Cadaques, is a medieval village encircled by a great wall. While walking there, the visitor walks on the old cobblestones of the village "el rastell" and strolls in the numerous lanes which make the charm of this place.
The highest point of the old part of the village is near the church of Sta Maria de Cadaqués. From here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the village, the bay of Cadaqués, Es Cucurucuc and even the lighthouse of Cala Nans.
In this corner of the Costa Brava, the most important avant-garde artistic movements of the twentieth century have coexisted. Some of the most famous artists, such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Paul Eluard, Federico García Lorca and André Dérain came to work there.
